Hello dear friends of our traveling community in the following article we will tell you the experience that lived about customers in their adventure in Bucay a beautiful city that belongs to the province of Guayas Ecuador in our beloved country.
Canton Antonio Elizalde better known as Bucay is 99 kilometers from the city of Guayaquil, it is a cantón with the largest natural resources of the province of Guayas, it offers beautiful cloudy rainforests that are prefect setting for extreme sports, appreciate beautiful waterfalls, learn their customs and culture.
Train Of Sweetness
Our adventure begins in the train station of the city of Durán better known as the “Train of sweetness”. This trip is one of the 8 paths of one day excursion offered by the railway company throughout Ecuador. We conducted our Chek – in and with our boarding pass in hand we are all ready for the journey …!
During the trip, tour guides explain the history of the station and its surroundings, rice fields, sugarcane, cocoa, old houses and factories story building dating from the train at the time of Gabriel García Moreno and Eloy Alfaro.
First Stop in Yaguachi
After one hour and thirty minutes of travel, we made a stop at Yaguachi train station for customers to consume typical breakfasts in the area as tortillas de verde, coffee, tamales, sandwiches. Although in his train ticket is included a small snack of fruit salad. You can also take pictures around the station where is located the Yaguachi river.
In this land lived the Yaguachi tribe who were expert navigators and skilled in the handling of sharp and blunt short arms, its etymological meaning is “Big House”.

Welcome to Bucay
About noon we reached the town of Bucay at the scenic train station, we were greeted with a warm montubios welcome dance and their amorfinos, visitors enjoyed dancing with Ecuadorian music. Then we visited the craft market, where we could admire beautiful handicrafts at very affordable prices such as earrings, bracelets, ornaments for the house, lamps, etc. indigenous figures.
Ancestral And Eco Tourism
In 1910 they migrated from the Amazon to Bucay, used to live by hunting but now they do agriculture. There are a total of 80 Shuar people including 25 Shuar involved in the tourism offering. On our visit, Julio Chiriapa with his typical attire hunt explains Shuar culture and customs.
We were greeted with a delicious buffet of typical Shuar food who also explained to us how it is prepared and its ingredients.
Chicha ingredients: Two fermented cassavas, sweet potatoes, ripe banana and water
Time for Lunch
In our cozy hostel where we could relax and enjoy a main course lunch consisting of rice with mixed vegetables and meat / chicken / pork chop or the second option was rice with potato salad and beef / chicken / pork chop with which we could recover the energy to start our search.
Eco Tourism Cloudy Rain Forest La Esperanza
Our shuttle was waiting to take us to the top of La Esperanza rainforest, as we ascend we saw immense and beautiful mountains surrounded by fog that turned the landscape into a beautiful paradise. Once up, our guide gave us some simple tips and undertake our trekking adventure to discover the first waterfall of 90 meters in a walk of about 10 minutes where the guys could bath and enjoy.
